SPECTRAL GATE
Description
While I tend to embrace the noise, we have riffs where a nice Blackmer-VCA gate is the needed ingredient. Plenty of headroom so you don't know it's there with a simple 2 control design. Use it in 2 or 4 cable method. Ignore the KEY jacks for 2 cable method or for 4 cable method, run your input to KEY INPUT, then KEY OUTPUT to the front of your pedalboard. Then run your FX send into the INPUT and FX return to the OUTPUT. This configuration will use the sensitivity of your original guitar signal to trigger the gate, while gating it after all of your noise creating dirt.
